Slow Down in the Selous: Three Nights in the African Bush
3 nights · Bush tent · Full board · From $670pp (non-resident)
Sunset boat safari on the Rufiji River, Full-day game drive, and bush picnic. Park fees included.

Three nights in Nyerere gives you time to settle into it properly. This isn’t about squeezing it all in — it’s about seeing how the place changes across a few days, from early mornings in the park to long stretches on the Rufiji.
You’ll head out on a full-day game drive and spend another day on the river itself — close to the banks, where everything eventually comes to drink. In between, there’s time to sit still, watch what moves, and let the rhythm of camp take over.
It’s a slow, more complete way to experience the Selous — less rush, more depth.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Camp & Slow Afternoon in the Bush
12:00 PM – Arrive at camp in time for a relaxed lunch overlooking the Rufiji River.
1:00 PM – Check in and settle into your bush tent. The afternoon is unstructured — hang by the pool or relax in the shade. Find a spot and stay there a while, and see what passes through camp.
4:30 PM – Relaxed sundowners in camp as the light softens and the river picks up with activity.
7:30 PM – Delicious dinner, shared with fellow guests.
9:00 PM – Back to your tent for the night while the bush carries on around you.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive & Bush Picnic
6:00 AM – Breakfast at camp, then out early while wildlife is most active.
7:00 AM – Set off early for a full-day game drive into Nyerere National Park. Having the full day means you can follow things properly — doubling back, waiting things out, and seeing how the park shifts over the course of a day.
10:00 AM – Stop for tea and coffee in a shaded spot in the bush.
1:00 PM – Bush picnic lunch. Stretch out on our mats and cushions, and take your time.
Afternoon – Continue through the park, picking up whatever the afternoon turns up.
5:30 PM – Return to camp in time for sunset over the Rufiji — rarely disappointing.
7:30 PM – Dinner at camp, with hopefully a few good stories from the day to share.
9:00 PM – Listen for bush babies as you fall asleep.
Day 3: Full Day Boat Safari on the Rufiji River
7:30 AM – A slower start with breakfast at camp.
10:00 AM – Head out for a full-day boat safari along the Rufiji River. Lower, closer, and quieter. From the water, you see it differently—hippos in numbers, crocodiles on the banks, elephants crossing when they choose, and serious birdlife all the way along the river.
1:00 PM – Pull in on a riverbank for a bush picnic lunch. Take your time before heading back out along the river channels.
Afternoon – Drift along the river channels as the day cools — animals coming down to drink, and birdlife picking up along the water.
Sunset – Return to camp as the light fades over the Rufiji River.
7:30 PM – Final dinner at camp.
9:00 PM – Overnight in camp.
Day 4: Departure
8:00 AM – Breakfast, then an unhurried start back to Dar es Salaam — not always an easy exit.
